Electric motors are one of the most common forms of motor in the modern world. They are literally everywhere. The smallest Motor can be found in a Wristwatch and the largest in a Water Pump. It works on the principle of ‘Conversion of Electric energy to Mechanical energy’. Just about every household or industrial appliance relies on AC or DC electric motors to move or operate. "DC Motors"

DC motors runs on DC electric power as oppose to "AC" electric motors that run off an alternating current.DC stands for ‘Direct Current’. DC electric Motors are made up of six components: a rotor or armature, a commutator, an axle, brushes, a field magnet, and a direct current power supply. These Motors are compiled in the following way: the axle holds the commutator and the armature which is a set of electromagnets. Both ends of the wires supplied for each magnetic pole are soldered to a terminal. Each of these motors three terminals are wired to a plate on the commutator. The last essential element of DC electric motors is a field magnet. The role of a field magnet is to create a magnetic field for the armature to react to.



"Uses of DC Motors"

DC Electric Motor is very popular and useful in a huge variety of contexts and can be found in every facet of our daily life. For example, when you turn your mobile phone to vibrate mode, the vibration is caused by a tiny motor inside the phone. These electric motors are also found all over the domestic environment in electric drills, washers, dryers, screwdrivers, vacuums, electric saws and furnaces. There are also various versions of DC motors found in bathroom appliances such as fans, hair dryers, electric toothbrushes and razors, and in entertainment units such as CD and DVD players, computer disk drives, computer fans, electronic clocks, and most moving toys and gadgets.
